Lhasa to Mt. Everest to Kathmandu Overland Tibet Tour

Day 01:  Arrival in Lhasa
Your Tibetan guide will greet you at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa railway station, and transfer you to your hotel in the city. From the airport to Lhasa is 68 km (42 mi), roughly an hour drive to your hotel. The drive from the train station is only 15 km (9 mi) and takes 20 minutes. After checking into the hotel, you will have the remainder of the day to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude in Tibet.

Day 02:  Lhasa City Sightseeing (B)
Potala Palace is the best known cultural landmark in Tibet. It is most renowned as the residence of the lineage of Dalai Lamas. It was first built 1400 years ago by King Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century. After Potala tour, visit Tibet museum.
We will also visit Jokhang temple, the most sacred building in Tibetan Buddhism, located in the heart of Lhasa old town.
Afterwords, we will visit Barkhor Street. it  is a popular Kora (holy walking path) which surrounds the Jokhang Temple. It is also a popular shopping district where you can buy gifts for your family and friends.

Day 03:  Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B)
Drepung Monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain northwest of Lhasa. It was Tibet central government during fifth Dalai Lama. Afterwards, we will visit a Carpet Factory where you will see how the world famous Tibetan carpets are made.
Afternoon we will visit Sera monastery and experience its famous debates performing every day between 3 pm to 5pm (except on Sunday).
Optional program: In the evening, your guide can take you to enjoy a local Tibetan art performance (price is not included).

Day 04:  Lhasa / Yamdrok Lake / Gyantse  / Shigatse  7 hours’ drive (B)
Passing by the green farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdro-tso lakes, karo-la glacier roadside at 4960m, we move westwards to the second biggest city of Shigatse. Today’s important attractions are Yamdro-tso Lake and Kubum monastery in Gyantse. Yamdro-tso Lake is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in colour. Kubum monastery has a 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome.

Day 05:  Shigatse / Lhatse / Tingri (Shegar) / Rongphu Monastery (B)
Drive westwards the Friendship way to Tingri.  From Tingri to E.B.C, we will pass the wild grassland, cross the rapid river and high mountains. If it is in clear whether, you can witness 4 mountains which is 8000m high or more, such as: Mt. Lhotse(8516m),Mt. Everes(8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag(8201m),Mt Mayalu (8463m). Overnight at Rongphu Monastery Tent or Guest House

Day 06:   Rongphu Monastery   / E.B.C / Zhangmu  (B)
You can see the sunrise from Rongpuk in the early morning.  Afterwards, we can walk to a local bus stop and take a bus to Everest Base camp( Or you can trek to Base Camp around 1.5-2 hours one way.  It’s interesting and much warmer, but hard to breathe). Hiking up to the top of the photo point to take pictures of the splendid- Mt. Everest. Then late in the afternoon around 13:00 go down from E.B.C back to Shegar and  Zhangmu with our tour guide.  Overnight in Zhangmu

Day 07:  Zhangmu / Kodari ( Nepal Boarder) (B)
After breakfast, our guide will help you clear the customs,  concluding the trip.

Day 1. Arrive in Lhasa
Upon arrival at the airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to our hotel. Free for rest of the day. We will take a good rest for the breathtaking tour on the roof of the world.
Day 2 . Lhasa
Today we will visit Potala, the symbol of Tibetan history and culture. It was the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the King Songtsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Afterwards, we will visit Jokhang Temple, one of the oldest temples at the heart of Lhasa. Later we will wander on Barkor Street for experiencing the lifestyle of Tibet. Tibetan art and traditional work are outlet for sale on this street. (B)
Day 3. Lhasa-Gyangtze - Shigatse
We drive towards Mt. Everest today. We’ll pass one of Tibetan Buddhism’s holiest lakes, Lake Yamdrok. Then drive through the town of Gyangtze. Crossing over the summit of Kamba La, you will see the towering massif Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7191m), and the staggering Karo-La Glacier (5045 m). Arrive in Shigatse in the evening. (B)
Day 4. Shigatse - Mt. Everest
This morning we we will visit Tashilumpo Monastery, the home of the Panchen Lama. Afterwards, we drive to Mt. Everest. This evening we will have the intoxicating view of Mt. Everest. Overnight in local guesthouse or tent. (B)
Day 5. Mt. Everest Base Camp - Shigatse
Wake this morning below the stunning north face of Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain on earth. After breakfast, we will drive the remaining 6 miles to visit Everest Base Camp. Later drive back to Shigatse. We will enjoy the endless vistas of Tibet plateau once more. (B)
Day 6. Shigatse - Lhasa
We will continue our journey to drive back to Lhasa. This time, we will take a slightly different route back to Lhasa. We will enjoy another full day views of breathtaking mountains under Himalayan sky. (B)
Day 7. Lhasa- Departure
Free in the morning on your own. We will be transferred to the airport at 12: 00 pm. (B)
